One of the top hotspots for healthy alternatives is Café Gratitude down in the crossroads of Kansas City.Cafe Gratitude is a collection of organic plant based restaurants specializing in gourmet plant based cuisines.

 

The restaurant is vegetarian based and focused on the world coming together as a whole to make health conscious food decisions. The restaurant also hosts a variety of classes and workshops to help teach others how to prepare and shop for organic foods.

          

Conveniently located on the Kansas City plaza, In-gre-di-ent strives toward a menu that can fit all dietary needs and includes gluten free and customizations for any menu items. Although a litt more expensive option, the restaurant hosts breakfast, lunch and dinner menu items and caters for parties and recreational events. 

 

Because of their expansive use of the neighboring agricultural community, In-gre-di-ent does not yet provide all of their menu information but it hoping to have all information up to date by the end of the year.

Not all healthy choices have to be gluten free and vegan. Kansas City is known for its barbecue, but where do these vendors get these delicious cuts? Butcher shops.  

 

One butcher shop that prides itself on only the most select cutsof meat is The Local Pig. The shop is located in the east bottoms of Kansas City. The Local Pig offers classes and workshops so you know what you are handling and how to cook and prepare it properly. 

The Eden Alley Café is another vegan and plaza located restaurant that prides itself on “Farm to table,” organic food choices. The restaurant is trying innovative ways to combine health and flavor for prices between $5 through $15.

 

Eden Alley is only an approximate thirty minute walk from Rockhurst University and is integrated with several different health food choices in the Kansas City plaza area.

Kansas city and the surrounding communities hosts a wide variety of healthy alternatives ranging from vegitarian option to butcher ships. Some of KC's best sites can be found within ten miles of Rockhurst University. Now, when you are tired of eating on campus or looking for some diversity, you know that some great places to grab a healthy meal are just around the corner.
